Order In Your Fort is a service in the northern VA area that helps families with special needs children organize, create and teach caregivers individualized strategies within the home.
Who are we?
We are two professional women who worked together in the public school system together as special educators for years. Using our professional and personal experiences, we have come together with our different strengths to help children in our area right in the home.
Mandy- I am a mother with a Master’s degree in Special Education. I was a special educator for six years before deciding to stay at home with my children. My professional and personal experiences have led me to want to help other special families. I want to help you to create a successful home environment individualized for your child and your family.
Pam- I have Bachelor degrees in Social Work and Nursing. For the last ten years, I have worked with young special needs children in both private home therapy and in the Public School setting. Configuring the environment and establishing routines assist me in promoting independent functioning for the kids.
I am happy to share these techniques with you.
What are some of things we can do for your family?
Develop a daily routine and checklist with use of picture cards for washing, tooth brushing, getting ready for school, morning routine, and other chores
Organize a specific place for your child’s possessions
Create a schedule for children to follow when they come home from school and for weekend activities
Create a sensory area for children where they can go and find lotion, pillows, oral motor toys, music, and more
Re-create rooms (children’s rooms, family rooms, kitchens, play rooms, etc) to be safer for your children while promoting independence.

Why would some Families need or want this service?
Some families in our area have to have working parents/guardians in home which limits the time needed to organize home and initiate strategies within the home. Some Families may want help to get started with picture schedules, reinforcers, de cluttering and organizational strategies. Some families may have just received a diagnosis and just want professionals to come in and observe and offer and inititate strategies.
